We use the hot water extraction process with a truckmounted unit. This process is sometimes called "steam cleaning."
7 Step Cleaning Process
How much does carpet cleaning cost?
How do I find out how much square feet of carpet I have?
You take a tape measure and measure the distance in feet from one side of a room to the other. You do this for both the length and the width of the room. Then you multiply the length (x) width which gives you the square feet total of the room. Add up the square feet from every room to get a grand total. Take the grand total and multiply it by the appropriate square foot price.

What is stain protector and do I need it?
Stain protector protects against water and oil based stains. That means when something gets spilled on the carpet, it will provide you with time to get the spill out before it penetrates through the fiber, possibly causing permanent damage. Of course, an effort needs to be made to get out the stain as quickly as possible. More information on getting out stains can be found under carpet and fabric care guide. You need to consider if the carpet is worth the cost of the protector. If it is older and/or very worn, it may not be worth the money. However, if it is newer and/or in good shape and you want to do all you can to keep it that way, it may be worth the cost in the long run. These are decisions that you need to consider.
What do I need to do to prepare for carpet cleaning?
You need to move out as many items and as much furniture as is reasonably possible. Start out with the small things. Work your way up to larger things. It is not necessary to removal all furniture from the room. Many people leave sofas, recliners, etc. which we can move around as needed. Also, we generally clean around things such as pianos, organs, grandfather clocks, entertainment centers, beds, bedroom furniture, etc. It also would be beneficial to vacuum the carpet. We will also do a final prevacuuming with our equipment to remove as much dry soil as possible before actually cleaning the carpet. For their safety, please keep pets and children away from the cleaning areas while the cleaning process is in progress. Also, the door will be open a couple of inches during hot water extraction, so a pet that is to remain inside should be taken care of so that it cannot get outside. We cannot be responsible if an animal gets outside. The same applies to an animal that is meant to be outside. It needs to be secured so that it cannot get inside the home.
How long will it take to clean my carpet and how long will it take to dry?
An average carpet cleaning is about 2 hours. Of course, this can vary. Drying time can vary due to carpet thickness, temperature and humidity. During the winter months it is good to keep the indoor temperature between 68-72 degrees. During the hot & humid months it is good to keep the temperature between 72-78 degrees. If stain protection was applied, you will have a longer drying time than if you choose carpet cleaning only. Average drying times range from a few hours to 24 hours. We recommend going barefoot or wearing socks during the drying period. Dirt can rub off of shoes and be a slipping hazard due to the moisture on the bottom of the shoes. Minimize traffic until it is as dry as is reasonably possible. Please keep pets and children off recently cleaned carpet until it is dry as an extra precaution. Please avoid returning furniture to the room for 24 hours after the carpet has been cleaned. Vacuuming the carpet once it is dry is not recommended. You should allow 3 or more days before vaccuming, especially if you have chosen stain protection to be applied. We may also recommend other things to speed carpet drying.
Why does urine smell?
Urine is mostly comprised of water, proteins, hormones, inorganic salts, urea, uric acid & urochrome (a yellow natural pigment). Urine discharged from an animal is acidic. As the urine dries, the residue becomes alkaline due to the salts found in urine. These salts pull moisture from the air. As the moisture and proteins combine, the result is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to grow resulting in an offensive odor. As the heat and humidity rises, the smell will likely intensify.
Why does urine cause a stain?
The yellow pigment in urine will attract to the acid dye in the carpet. If urine stains are not handled quickly and properly, the pigment can permanently stain even the best stain-resistant carpet. Urine undergoes chemical changes during the drying stage and ammonia develops. Ammonia can discolor carpet and can be perceived as just an ordinary stain, but it is actually color loss and yellow pigment from the urine.
What areas can urine affect?
Urine penetrates carpet much like a filter; the stain on the back of the carpet will be much larger than on the surface. If 20% of the top is contaminated, then 60% of the back is contaminated. In this case the best option would be to replace the carpet along with the padding and then clean and seal the subfloor. It may not be scientifically possible to restore every urine-contaminated carpet that we come across. Also, remember that urine may contaminate drywall and behind baseboards as well.
What should be expected regarding urine stain and odor removal?
The answer to this depends on the "level of tolerance" towards the odor. In other words, what degree of odor removal will be satisfactory? Also, how much time and money do you want to invest? For example, there is a difference between a carpet which has extensive damage and the pet remains in the situation where it can continue to contaminate the carpet compared with a one-time accident or only a few specific areas of contamination that can be pinpointed and treated thoroughly.
What techniques and tools are available for urine removal?
First, we can use a moisture detector and/or a blacklight to identify areas which may not be otherwise visible. Another way to detect urine is disengage the carpet and inspect the backing for stains. The carpet padding and subfloor will create the greatest challenge. Every odor control job is unique. There are several methods that we can use depending on your particular situation.
